AIXM · The AI Excellence Mark

Proof that your AI can be trusted.

Every AI company is being asked to prove it builds and runs its product responsibly. Almost none can, in a form a buyer can check. AIXM is independent, evidence-based certification for the companies building AI.

The mark

Somebody independent looked. And it stood up.

The certificate is issued to the organisation, for a named AI product. It says that somebody independent examined how that company builds and runs its AI, and what the people using it actually experienced, and found it stood up.

AIXM is for AI start-ups selling into cautious buyers, for small AI development firms answering their clients’ due-diligence questionnaires one at a time, and for organisations building AI into what they already sell.

Eight areas, not a checklist

Seven pillars everyone shares. And one nobody requires.

The first seven align with what ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act, NIST and the OECD have in common. The eighth asks for evidence that real users trust the product, rely on it appropriately, get value from it, and are heard when it goes wrong.

AIXM aligns with these frameworks; it does not certify conformity with any of them.

Evidence, not assertion

Score 97% and miss one gate, and the Mark is not awarded.

Fourteen of the 48 questions are critical gates. A certification nobody can fail is worth nothing to those who pass it, so a gate cannot be averaged past.

Every answer is scored on documents, records and demonstrations, never on a form somebody filled in about themselves, and every rating cites the page it relied on.

Outcomes

Three levels. And no way to average past a gate.

Not yet certified means a full evidence report and a route to reassessment, never a dead end.

01
Not yet certified

Below 55%, or any critical gate missed. A full evidence report and a route to reassessment.

02
Established

55 to 69%, every gate met. Responsible practice in place, demonstrable across all eight areas.

03
Assured

70 to 84%, every gate met. Practice that is consistent, managed and evidenced, not merely present.

04
Pioneering

85% and above, every gate met. Practice that leads the field, with learning and challenge built in.

The organisation that writes the standard is not the organisation that awards the certificate. That separation is what turns a badge into a mark.

  1. Self-assessment

Free. Answer the 48 questions and see where you stand.

  2. Verified assessment

Add your evidence and Jasper’s reading of it. You are assessed, not yet certified.

  3. The Mark

Responses lock, Jasper assesses, TICSI’s assessors verify question by question, and TICSI releases the decision.

ICXI owns the AIXM criteria and scheme rules. Jasper delivers the assessment. TICSI, a trading name of Intelligence Certification Services Limited, independently reviews the outcome, makes the certification decision and issues the Mark.

Questions

Asked by AI teams. Answered plainly.

What does AIXM certify?
A named AI product in its context: how the company builds and runs it, and what the people using it actually experience. Not a company in the abstract, and not a model.
Is AIXM a legal conformity assessment?
No. AIXM is an independent excellence certification. It does not confer CE marking, EU AI Act conformity or ISO/IEC 42001 certification, and never claims to. It aligns with the principles they share: governance, transparency, data stewardship, fairness, robustness, human oversight and accountability.
We are a team of five. Is it for us?
Yes. AIXM is built for teams of five and teams of fifty. Small does not mean exempt; it means the evidence looks different.
Who decides?
Jasper, ICXI’s AI assessor, reads the evidence and proposes a rating for each question, citing the page it relied on. TICSI’s human assessors verify every question, and TICSI makes the decision and issues the Mark.
Where do we start?
With a free self-assessment. It shows where you stand and builds the case for the Mark, and it is useful in its own right.

Show your buyers what they cannot check for themselves.

Begin with the free self-assessment, and take the Mark when you are ready.
